Opal "Mickey" Nixon

Opal “Mickey” Arnold Nixon, born January 17, 1932 to Sam and Ellen Arnold in Crockett, Texas, passed away January 30, 2013 in Houston with her children by her side. Mrs. Nixon was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings and her loving husband of 61 years, Eugene “Gene” Nixon.

She is survived by her twin children, Vickie Staff and husband, Rick, and Rick Nixon and wife, Vicki; grandchildren, Stephanie Staff, Matt Staff, Johnny Nixon, Jake Nixon, and by numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.

Mickey spent her 50 year professional career in chart measurement with Houston Pipeline, Houston Natural Gas/Enron, and Tennessee Gas.

Our Mother and Muzzie will be remembered for her kind and selfless nature and wise counsel. She will be greatly missed, but her family is secure in the knowledge that she is now happy and healthy in her heavenly home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The family would like to thank the loving caregivers at The Hampton Pinegate Alzheimer’s Unit for their compassionate care the past two years.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1819 Heights Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77008. Burial will be private in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, or a charity of your choice.
