Patti was an exceptional student and member of the band in high school. She attended Southern Illinois University to study education where she met and married Lew Vorick and started her family. She really excelled in living out her strongest passion, that of a devoted wife and mother whose love and care for her family knew no bounds. As her children entered school, she began a successful career in sales and marketing. She later married Michael Walsh and after Megan was born, they moved to Texas, where Patti and Megan became very active at Spring Branch Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir and introducing handbells to the service.
Patti had a joyful and giving spirit and loved connecting with people. She always enjoyed being surrounded by the people, and pets, that she loved. She had a caretaker’s heart and throughout her life could often be found caring for the youngest in the communities she was a part of. Patti always kept busy. She loved camping, waterskiing and being out in nature. She would travel around the country to see her family and enjoy the wonderful outdoors. She also enjoyed creating. Patti spent her quiet time cross stitching, knitting, crocheting and working on puzzles.
The most important thing to Patti was always her family. She wanted to raise strong independent children with deep roots that always supported one another, and she was a living example of that. She gave her children the courage and independence to soar while still always being ready with an encouraging word or sound advice if and when they faltered. She was never happier than when she was watching her family connect with one another.
Patti is preceded in death by her parents, Lowell “Mitch” and Loretta “Lottie” Mitchell (nee Reynolds), her brother, Jay (Mona) Mitchell, and her sister, Suzi (Dean) Renn. She is survived by her son, Bob (Cheryll) Vorick of Cary, IL; daughters Liz (William) Holt of Salt Lake City, UT, Cat Vorick of Asheboro, NC, and Megan (Jeff) Hogg of Houston, TX; grandchildren David Vorick of San Francisco, CA, Josh Vorick of New York, NY, Ari (Jeff Hepler) Holt of Lehi, UT and Matthew Hogg of Houston, TX. A special thank you goes out to David and Kate Gober and the staff of Fairbanks Court Assisted Living for their exemplary care of Patti.
A service of witness to the resurrection will be held on Wednesday March 19th 2025 at 1:00pm. It will be located at Spring Branch Presbyterian Church, 1215 Campbell Rd, Houston, TX 77055. It is highly encouraged that everyone wear bright colors to honor Patti's last wishes.
