It was an early spring morning on March 29, 1983 when a jubilant baby boy was born, Paul Anthony Rainey. He was the oldest child born to Marie (Rainey) Henry in Alexandria, Louisiana and was later adopted by his grandparents Hildred and Myrtle Rainey. Paul was a member of Starlight Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. S.W. Pullen. He was baptized at the tender age of 8, and when he moved to Houston in 1996, he joined the Community of Faith Baptist Church, under the leadership of Bishop, James Dixon, II. In his youthful years, he loved to play with his cousins Tamika and Roderick. They were always together, they attended the same church, elementary school, and participated in community youth programs. Paul was also an active member of the Oakdale’s Cub Scouts. Paul enjoyed playing video games and basketball with his neighborhood friends. Paul moved to Houston at the age of 13 where he would settle and make his lifelong friends. He attended Shotwell Middle School, Eisenhower and Westfiled High Schools. After obtaining his G.E.D., he also went on to further his education at Texas Southern University. Paul loved music. In his teen years, he was pursuing a career as an aspiring rapper known as, “King Gator”. He completed a few mixed tapes, however he had three songs that he was very proud of, Clear Liquor, Gone Be OK, and Trap Talk. Paul’s goal was to one day move to the artist management side of the music industry and establish his own record label. The last project that he was working on was in collaboration with his brother Darren who is pursuing his undergraduate degree in Communications to become a music producer. Paul worked at Texas Southern University in the Labor Pool Department. He loved his job and enjoyed working with his team members Sean, Chris and Ray. Paul was preceded in death by his grandfather, Hildred (Tom) Rainey, and his Uncle Kenneth Rainey. He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Barry and Marie Henry; his grandmother, Myrtle Rainey; three children, Antonio and Mariah Rainey, and Jeremiah Hampton; two sisters, Miana and Chelsea Henry; one brother, Darren Henry; three aunts, Linda Clipps (Anderson), Jacqueline Walker, and Linda Rainey; three first cousins, Tamika Warren (Chris), Linecia Williams (Sylvester) and Kenita Rainey; fiance’ Rhodesia Hunter and her children, Sha’Nya, Da’Veon, and Darryl, and many other relatives and friends
