

Pauline Carson Barker passed away peacefully on May 10, 2016 after a slow decline. She was born in Hearne, Texas on January 29, 1921 to Robert and Josie Carson and graduated from Hearne High School in 1938. She moved to Houston in 1942 working at Methodist Hospital and later Humble Oil Company. A member of First Methodist Church on Main Street, in downtown Houston, she met and married Elmer D. Barker in the chapel May 1947. They were members of the church and Adelphi Sunday School Class for the next 29 years until his death in December 1976. She remained a faithful member of First Methodist of Houston for 50 years, until she relocated to Bryan, Texas where she could be closer to family. She was also preceded in death by her son, Bill Barker, of Houston.
Pauline is survived by two sons, David E. Barker, Robert C. Barker, daughter in law Paula wife of David, all residents of Bryan, Texas. She leaves granddaughters Denise Nutt of Cypress and Debbie McCain of Wylie, Texas. Also surviving are great grandchildren Garrett McCain, Addie McCain, and Allie Nutt. She has one surviving sister Irene Martin and one nephew, Sonny Martin, residing in Louisville, Kentucky.
Though she relocated in 1993, she left many friends and memories in Houston and at 95 there are few left to give testimony to her dedication to her church and devotion to her family and her many friends.
