

She was born on December 10th, 1944, in Houston, Texas. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. Her life was dedicated to loving and caring for her own children as well as many adoptive and foster children. She lived a life full of love, laughter, kindness, and strength with a deep commitment to her family. Her sincere love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will be remembered forever.
Penny was a woman of deep faith who carried a strong belief in God, with her faith guiding her through both joyous and challenging times. Though her journey was not always easy, Penny’s humor and wit always had a way of brightening the day for those around her. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her Father Nick Petkas, Mother Georgia Booth Petkas, Sister Dorothea Petkas, Brother Jimmy Petkas, Son in Law Doug Spaulding, and her two beloved sons Thomas Temple and Paul Temple.
She is survived by many whom love her dearly including her 3 children; Nicky (Kimala) Temple, Wendy (Nina) Temple, Emily Spaulding, her brother Peter (Gayle) Petkas, her 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and her dear friend Ray Bridges who was unwavering in his commitment to her and spent countless days at her bedside.
A funeral service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale on Monday April 14th, 2025, at 2pm. Visitation will be held from 10am-1pm with an interment to follow at 3pm.

Though we mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones, and watching over us all. Penny will remain in our hearts forever.
