Phyllis Dixon Ross

Phyllis Dixon Ross, born November 4, 1922 to John and Louella Dixon in Fall, Louisiana, passed away August 30, 2010 in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 48 years, The Reverend George Wayne Ross, Sr.; brothers, John Allen Dixon, Jr. and Neil Dixon, and sister, Dorothy Jane Dixon. She is survived by children, Martha, Mary Lou, and Wayne Ross; daughter-in-law, Mary Fay Ross; granddaughters, Lauren, Brandi, and Katie Ross; brother, James Dixon; special friend, Ron Clark, and a host of family and friends.

Mrs. Ross was a music teacher for many years, and was choir director at Paul Breaux High School in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was also choir director for many of the Methodist churches where her husband served as pastor.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Heights Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating Mrs. Ross’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Grace United Methodist Church, 1245 Heights Boulevard, Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to a charitable organization of your choice.
