Reynaldo was born in San Carlos, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Juan and Maria Luisa Soto. He is preceded in death by his wife, Estella.
Reynaldo, beloved member of a large and loving family, was one of 11 siblings. He joined the Brasero Program in the late 50’s that gave him an opportunity to work in various States throughout the Midwest and ultimately, he settled in Texas. He returned to his hometown and married, Maria del Socorro Valdez in September of 1967. He and Maria started their life in Dimmit, Texas. They welcomed their daughter, Miriam in 1968 followed by their son, Reynaldo, Jr. in 1970. During this time Reynaldo worked on a farm as a harvester and later worked at a dairy farm in Castro County. The family later relocated to Houston, TX in 1973 and welcomed their daughter Monica in 1975. They made their home in Houston’s east end community known as Magnolia Park. It was in Houston that he found a community of friends and family that would become an integral part of his life. Reynaldo dedicated much of his life to Azrock Flooring, where he held various positions throughout his career. After 29 years of loyal service, he retired in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
In retirement, Reynaldo was able to enjoy many years spent with family, friends and traveling. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time playing games during family gatherings such as Loteria and LCR. He also found joy in doing word search puzzles, exercising on his stationary bike and taking walks in the park with friends – simple pleasures that brought him happiness and kept him active.
Reynaldo is survived by his loving children and their families: Miriam Soto and daughters, Rosa Maria Lainez (husband Fredis) and Stephanie Lopez (husband Alex). Reynaldo Soto, Jr. and wife, Angelica and daughters, Reina Mangum (husband Caiden) and Marina Soto. Monica Soto Donalson and husband, Todd and their children: Anthony Lamas and Ava Donalson. He also leaves behind 6 great grandkids and two stepsons, Paul Edwards and Michael Edwards.
Reynaldo will be greatly missed by all that knew him and loved him. Though our hearts are heavy we are rejoicing that he is healed, no longer in pain and has reunited with loved ones.
