

Our Lord received Richard Lopez (Ricardo Lopez Jr) on Sunday October 8th at the age of 61. He was born on August 23rd, 1962, In Mexico. He had beautiful memories with his older brother Juan in Guadalajara. His family later moved to Indiana before finally settling in Houston. He married his high school sweetheart Genevieve; they had three wonderful son’s and 10 amazing grandchildren.
Shortly after leaving Milby High School, he began to work for Entex gas company along side with his father Ricardo Lopez Sr. and saved a co-worker’s (foremen) life while there. He later graduated from U of H Police Academy to follow his dream of becoming a police officer, a dream that was instilled by his grandfather. He worked for Precinct 6, and later had the privilege of serving Houston ISD before retiring. He strived to do his best on the job and get the positive results. He volunteered to instruct the inception of the bike patrol and won a lifesaving's award while at Austin High School.
He was actively involved in caring for his mother, his in-laws, and was the caretaker of his seven dogs. He loved spending time with his family and traveling to Indiana to visit his cousin Jr. He loved attending New Hope Church and spent most anniversaries in Galveston with his wife. He loved car’s always and found joy in sharing them with his family.
Ricardo is preceded in death by their father Ricardo Lopez Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife Genevieve, loving mother Maria Elena, loving son’s Alexander, Ricardo III, Michael, loving grandchildren, loving daughter in-laws, and loving brothers and sister.
He had a huge heart, he loved hard, he found it a joy to come across the students he protected. When he saw the need he was always willing to jump in and save a life, he had a strong sense of justice even before becoming an officer. He had a multitude of animals ranging from potbelly pig, swans, ferrets, chickens, turtles, birds, cats, and dogs. He will be remembered for his smile, his laugh, his humor, his free spirit, his smiling eyes, his helping hand, he’d give you the shirt off his back if he could, his love for his children, his love for his grandchildren, and his love for his wife.
