ROBERT "BOB" SORENSON, 84, died at home in Houston on July 9, 2010. Bob was born in Houston on October 12, 1925, the second of three sons to Ralph Sr. and Cecil Elizabeth Fowler Sorenson. Bob graduated from Austin High School in 1943 and served as a pilot (B-25) in the Army Air Corps. during WWII. He received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston in 1949. He worked for 39 years in the Research and Engineering Department of Hughes Tools Co., retiring November 1, 1985.Predeceased by his parents and wife of 49 1/2 years Irene Anders Sorenson and brother Ralph Sorenson Jr.Bob is survived by one brother Raymond Sorenson of Houston, one stepson, Charles M Vetters and wife Cindy of Montgomery, grandchildren, Charles M. Vetters Jr. and Anna Beth Miles and one niece, Shelly Reynolds.A funeral service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 10am with visitation held one hour prior. Interment will follow in the Forest Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers make a donation to the charity of your choice.
