

He was born on Saturday, May 6, 1916 in Sylvania, Pennsylvania to Perry Courtney and Edith Dewey Courtney. Bob moved to Texas in 1947. He was a World War II Navy veteran and retired from Ingersoll-Rand in 1981 after 45 years.
Bob was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Kelly Courtney and granddaughter, Sandra Courtney. He is survived by his children, Perry Courtney and wife Joyce, Dianne Blacklock and husband Van, Daniel Courtney and David Courtney. Bob is also survived by seven grandchildren: Becky Menn and husband Allen, Brenda Simmons and husband Robert, Perry R. Courtney and wife Diane, Nicki King and husband Eric, April Courtney, David Carl Courtney and Joshua P. Courtney; twelve great grandchildren: Chelsea, Whitney and Braden Menn, Cameron and Chad Courtney, Harrison and Avery King, Andrew Courtney, Clayton and Desiree Courtney, Bethany and Avery Simmons; nephew, Robert L. Courtney; brother-in-law, Harley Kelly and sister-in-law, Betty Kelly Ball; several other nieces, nephews, family members and dear friends.
The family would like to give thanks to his friends and The Hampton Assisted Living on Kempwood for all the care and kindness shown.
The family received friends from one o'clock in the afternoon until time for the funeral service that began at two o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 27th of August, in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors with his son, Reverend Perry Jacob Courtney officiating. Graveside services followed at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, David Courtney, Joshua Courtney, Perry Courtney, his great grandson, Cameron Courtney, grandsons-in-law, Allen Menn and Robert Simmons, and son-in-law, Van Blacklock.
