

“Doc Moore”, 87, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014. God saw you were getting tired and a recovery was just not meant to be. God took your hand and said to you “It’s time to come home with me.” Now may he rest in peace. Dr. Moore was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, known as “Pa-Pa Choo Choo”.
He was a WWII Army veteran, a charter member, Deacon, Elder and very active member of St Paul Presbyterian Church of Houston, Texas. Dr. Moore was significant in the lives of many and will be greatly missed. He was the organizing Charter Representative of Boy Scout Troop 549 of St Paul Presbyterian Church. He was a recipient of the Boy Scout Silver Beaver Award and the Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouting Award. He was a past governor of Optimist International, an active member of The South End Optimist Club and The West End Optimist Club, "N-Gauge" Model Railroad Club, BVARC Ham Radio Club, Lamar H.S. Alum Luncheon Group, Houston Astronomical Society, The Heather and Thistle Society, Pairs and Squares Square Dancing Club, American Legion, the Greater Houston and Texas Dental Societies, and a charter member of The Jacques DeMolay Masonic Lodge #1390. He was a graduate of Lamar H.S., University of Houston, and Baylor College of Dentistry.
Dr. Moore was preceded in death by his father, Beverly Bryan (B.B.) Moore of Washington, NC, and his mother, Thelma Grace Hassler Moore of Birmingham, AL. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eileen Moore and their children: son Robert I. Moore and wife Gabriela, son Maj. James Moore USA (Ret) and wife Juanita, daughter Patty Smith and husband Kenny, son Thomas Moore and wife Cindy, daughter Vicky Gussett and husband Gerald; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, numerous cousins and friends, as well as, his loving kitty cat, Sugar.
Visitation will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on Sunday November 2, 2014 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Celebration of Life Services will be conducted by Dr. Kevin Boyd and held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home's Main Chapel at 10 a.m. on Monday November 3, 2014 with interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. A catered reception will take place at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral home after all services. Pallbearers; grandsons: Edwin Moore, Christopher Gussett, Mark Smith, Tommy Moore, Brian Smith, Matthew Moore, James Robert Moore. Honorary Pallbearers; sons-in-law: Kenny Smith and Gerald Gussett. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in memory of Robert to Saint Paul Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
