Robert Allan Ramsey, a most respected and admired father, grandfather, husband, brother, and friend to many, passed away on February 15th, 2015, after a short illness. Robert, or “Bob-Bob” as he was known to his grandchildren, was born June 28th, 1933, in Houston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Horace Leon Ramsey and Mildred Marie Ramsey, his wife, Mary Neal Ramsey, and brother, Leon Lester Ramsey.
Following his graduation from Lamar High School, Robert began his 2 years of service to his country in the United States Army. In 1959, he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Houston, where he hosted his widely popular Big Band radio show on a weekly basis. In 1960, Robert married his sweetheart, Mary Neal Garlinger, to whom he was married for 48 years, until her death in 2008.
After receiving his BA, Robert began his long and successful sales career in the audio visual industry. During his many years of employment with Audio-Visual Aids, Corp., he built countless, long-lasting friendships with his colleagues and clients. Much of his success can be attributed to his genuinely friendly personality and uncanny ability to remember and recite an endless number of jokes. Bob could always be counted on to be the life of the party.
Robert is survived by his son, Robert Allan Ramsey, Jr., son Colin Mark Ramsey and wife Susan Valero Ramsey, his two grandchildren, Anabelle Mae Ramsey and Patrick Colin Ramsey, as well as his sister, Carolyn Frnka and extended family.
A gathering to celebrate Robert’s wonderful life was held on Saturday, February 28th, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciatively suggests contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
