

Robert White was born on December 28, 1920 in Burleson County, Texas, the eighth of twelve children to Sarah and Chester White, Sr. He accepted Christ at an early age. Robert attended Smith Grade High. He left home at an early age to join the Army and was told he would need a middle name, so he selected Lee as his middle name. He served for eight years in Africa, Germany, France and Italy during and after World War II. Robert moved to Houston where he met and married Wilmer Lee in 1948 .They were married for fifty four years until she preceded him in death in 2002. There were no children to this union, but Robert and Wilmer were parental figures and god parents to many nieces, nephews, and friends. Robert was a member of Yale Street Baptist Church and with his intense memory could recite the history of this church with such pride and passion like no one ever before, not even the pastors. Yale Street Baptist Church - know that you were loved by Robert Lee White. The Lord called Robert Lee home on August 7, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents Chester & Sarah Alexander White; loving wife of 54 years, Wilmer; sisters: Zephrie Oldham, Jessie Bell Malone, Vera Nutall, Willie Mae Carr, and brothers Frederick Douglas White and Chester Arthur White, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories- sisters: Sedalia Blake (Tunis, Texas), Iris Tillman (Tunis, Texas), Charlie Mae Nelson (Dallas, Texas), Odessa Hendricks (Burleson County, Texas); brother Archie Lee White (Lubbock, Texas) and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
