Rosa Garcia Medellin was born May 19, 1931 in San Antonio, Texas and passed away November 20, 2013 in Houston, Texas. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her faith in God and love of her family and friends enriched the lives of all who knew her. She was affectionately called "Mama Rose" by the many children who were in her care. Rosa is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Charley Ante Medellin, her sons Charlie G. Medellin and wife Hazel; Gilbert F. Medellin and wife Shamena; and daughter-in-law Janet Medellin. Also surviving her are her grandchildren Vanessa DeSalvo and husband Jerry; Charlsie Brown and husband Robert; Byron Medellin and wife Tasha; and Charles Nicholas Medellin. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, two brothers, Charlie and Frank Garcia, brother-in-law Ray Garcia, and numerous family and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Rosa Garza Garcia, sister Mary Garcia, brother Pete Benavides and his wife Lucy, and her son Daniel G. Medellin. Visitation and Rosary will be Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 9:00 am. Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 am at Forest Park Lawndale
