

Rose started school in Corsicana, then moved to South Houston where she graduated from Jeff Davis High School. She played the trumpet in The Carlton Cadettes and frequently played the piano at church. Rose attended a Billy Graham Convention where she became a Christian. She was a member of Choraliers of Forest Cove, Middle Eastern Dance Organization and Sirrom School of Dance where she taught Tahitian dance! Her interests consisted of gardening, nature, cooking, swimming, belly dancing and most of all Hulu and Tahitian dancing. Rose featured in the movie "Liar's Moon" starring a young Matt Dillion. She played the roll of a belly dancer in the carnival scene as Queen Cleo!
Rose was the heart of her family and loved them dearly, especially her husband of 68 years.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Loper and Eulyess Barron; brothers, Allen Barron and Hayden Barron.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, James Odis Suggs; daughter, Jamie (Kirk) Belton; son, Rick (Delaine) Suggs; grandchildren, Kim Hernandez, Cassy Walden, Natalie Suggs, Caroline Suggs, Kelly Ducote and Zach Belton; great grandchildren, Maddy Diaz and Owen Ducote. She also leaves behind 2 sisters, June Carker and Shirley Lane.

A visitation for Rose will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
