He was born on December 9, 2006 to Ruben and Audrey Estrada in his hometown of Houston, Texas. As a young boy Daniel was full of life, and his parents managed his energetic personality by involving him in various sports. Being an athlete allowed Daniel to make lasting friendships, develop social skills, and harness his competitive nature. As a junior this year, he made the varsity baseball team at Westfield High School where he was to play outfield. His teammates were more than just a team, they were family. He aspired to play college baseball, and was also prepared to learn a trade such as welding. He loved attending home games and cheering on his local sports teams: the Houston Astros, Rockets, and Texans. Daniel also enjoyed playing video games and competing on screen with his fellow gaming community.
In his short life, Daniel developed a passion for music and loved to show off his dancing skills. As soon as he could walk he danced his way into our hearts to the tunes of Michael Jackson, then would be the first to learn the newest trending dance moves. His fun loving personality was a magnet that drew people towards him, resulting in his large social circle. Daniel was loved by many and always managed to put a smile on the face of everyone he encountered. He was witty with a quiet sense of humor about him. Those who knew him would say he was just as pleasantly charming on the inside, as he was on the outside.
He came from a large tight-knit family and was taught the importance of spending quality time with one another. Daniel's mother was his entire world and biggest cheerleader, and the bond with his father was one of respect and joy in each other's life. His caring older sister, Liliana, was her brother's keeper. She watched over her little brother in childhood, defended him during his mischievous days, and encouraged him to reach for his goals. He was a happy teenager who left us far too soon. As much as he gave in life, he also gave in death. In his last selfless act on earth, Daniel chose to be an organ donor. His legacy will live on through this generous decision and the family members, friends, and communities of those who received his donated organs will be forever grateful for the additional quality time they will now have with their loved ones. We were all fortunate to know and love a true hero who gave the gift of life.
He is preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents Jesse and Connie Bernal, his paternal grandmother Nelda Estrada, and his cousin Jaslyn Woodward.
Daniel is survived by his parents, older sister Liliana Estrada, grandparents Michael and Aurora Bernal, and Ruben Estrada.
