Ruby is survived by her husband, William R. Davis of Edna, TX, her two precious boys, William I. Davis (8) and Ethan R. Davis (4); her parents Ignacio and Evangelina Roman of Houston,Tx, one sister and three brothers: Lily Roman-Ortiz, Ignacio (Tere) Roman Jr., Hugo (Jessica) Roman, and Eliseo (Joanna) Roman. She is pre deceased by her mother-in-law, Carol Ann Davis, and father-in-law, William A. Davis, both of Edna, TX. She leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, nephews, and her courageous brothers and sisters of the Houston Police Department all of whom she loved and touched deeply.
Ruby graduated from the High School for Law Enforcement class of 1997 in Houston, TX. She then completed undergraduate studies at the University of Houston-Victoria before attending the Police Academy. Ruby proudly served 13 years as a Police Officer in the Houston Police Department with her last assignment being in the Juvenile Division. She was a member of the St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, enjoyed cooking, entertaining loved ones, planning her next project, inspiring others, and most significantly,embracing each moment with her family.
Ruby had a huge heart for all of those around her: family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. She would do any thing for anyone without question. Ruby was a selfless mother, compassionate wife, dedicated daughter, devoted follower of Christ, and was loved tremendously by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her vivacious personality, courageous drive, passion for life, commitment to family, and indomitable spirit. Ruby was a bright, shining star that will shine and light our paths forever.
A special thanks to the Police Union, Blue Bow Foundation, Assist the Officer, ReLEntless Defender Foundation, forever friend, Irma Espinoza, and to all of those she worked with alongside at the Houston Police Department. The family would like to recognize and thank the medical providers and staff at the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic who supported and cared for Ruby with dignity and compassion.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation hours, which will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2019 in the Grand Chapel from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale St. Houston, TX. 77023. A Rosary Service will be held from 7:00 to 7:30 P.M.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church (8150 Park Place Blvd., Houston, TX 77017) from 1:00 to 2:30 P.M. followed by Committal Service, 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. The Houston Police Family Support Unit and ReLEntless Defender Foundation will host a reception for family and friends immediately following the burial service in the Holland Hall at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.
