Rufina Arellano Oxi

With deep love and gratitude, we honor the life of Rufina A. Oxi, born in San Sebastián Atoyaquillo, Oaxaca, Mexico, and welcomed into God’s embrace just days before her 87th birthday. She was the cherished daughter of Lucina Rafael and Macario Arellano, whose teachings of faith, kindness, and family shaped her gentle spirit.

Rufina found joy in life’s simple moments — the bright colors of her flowers, the quiet peace of her garden, and the warmth of a home where everyone felt cared for. She loved celebrating birthdays and holidays, filling those gatherings with laughter, good food, and a love that made people feel truly welcomed.

A devoted Catholic, she lived her faith with humility and sincerity. As a proud member of the Guadalupanas Society, she found friendship and purpose among women who shared her devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Celebrating December 12 brought her deep joy.

Rufina was a wonderful cook, and her meals were comfort, tradition, and love served at a table where no one ever felt like a stranger. Her kitchen and garden were the heart of her home.

With a naturally warm and social heart, she formed lasting friendships and was deeply loved by her neighbors. Among her most treasured relationships was her dear friend Sra. Enriqueta, with whom she shared many years of trust and companionship.

She is preceded in death by her husband, José Matilde Oxi, and her daughter, María Arellano.

Rufina’s memory lives on in her sons, Pete Oxi and José L. Oxi; her daughter in law, Michelle; and her beloved grandsons, Bruno, Andrés, and Philip. She is also lovingly remembered by her niece María Céspedes, her husband Franz S. Céspedes, and their sons Franz H. and Jaime F. Céspedes.

Her memory is also held close by her last surviving brother, Froylán, and her family in Mexico: Reyna, Francisco Arellano, Lucina Graciela Arellano Rafael, Lourdes Arellano, and Rossmary Rafael.

Con profundo amor y gratitud, recordamos a Rufina A. Oxi, nacida en San Sebastián Atoyaquillo, Oaxaca, México, y llamada a la presencia de Dios a pocos días de cumplir 87 años. Fue la querida hija de Lucina Rafael y Macario Arellano, quienes le enseñaron el valor de la fe, la familia y la bondad.

Rufina encontraba belleza en lo sencillo: en el color de sus flores, en la paz de su jardín, y en el calor de un hogar donde todos se sentían bienvenidos. Le encantaba celebrar cumpleaños y días festivos, llenando esos momentos de risas, buena comida y un amor que hacía sentir a todos parte de la familia.

Como católica devota, vivió su fe con humildad y entrega. Fue miembro de la Sociedad Guadalupana, donde encontró amistad y propósito entre mujeres que compartían su devoción por Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Celebrar el 12 de diciembre le llenaba el corazón.

Rufina fue una excelente cocinera, y sus comidas eran consuelo, tradición y amor servidos en una mesa donde nadie se sentía extraño. Su cocina y su jardín eran el corazón de su hogar.

Con un corazón cálido y sociable, formó amistades profundas y fue muy querida por sus vecinos. Una de sus relaciones más especiales fue con su entrañable amiga Sra. Enriqueta, con quien compartió muchos años de confianza y compañía.

Le precedieron en la muerte su esposo, José Matilde Oxi, y su hija, María Arellano.

La extrañarán profundamente sus hijos, Pete Oxi y José L. Oxi; su nuera, Michelle; y sus adorados nietos, Bruno, Andrés y Philip. También la recuerdan con cariño su sobrina María Céspedes, su esposo Franz S. Céspedes, y sus hijos Franz H. y Jaime F. Céspedes.

La memoria de Rufina vive también en su último hermano, Froylán, y en su familia en México: Reyna, Francisco Arellano, Lucina Graciela Arellano Rafael, Lourdes Arellano y Rossmary Rafael.
