He is survived by his wife, Cherry Salinas; daughter, Elizabeth Stovall (Charles); son, Raymond Salinas (Caroline); daughter, Sheri Woodworth (Brian); son, Jakeob Salinas; bonus daughter whom he raised and loved as his own, Kim Velasco (Ralph) and grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and a niece.
Predeceased by his father, Rufus Edward Salinas, Sr.; Mother, Mary Salinas; Brothers, Teddy Salinas & Alfred Salinas; Sister, Velma Flores; granddaughter, Shannon Stovall, as well as many other cherished family members.
Rufus was a self-made entrepreneur. His foundation in the construction business began at his father’s concrete business. His business acumen began at Hudson engineering where he started in the typing pool and was quickly promoted through the ranks becoming a Supervisor of Destructive Testing. He later became a successful Homebuilder in the Houston area, an Independent Used Car Dealer and always an Investor in property. He considered his greatest accomplishment and joy to be his loving family.
He faced many challenges which he turned into successes and turned his life around when he found his Lord and Savior. He was always eager to give his testimony and never hesitated to “set you straight.” He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Buffalo, Texas.
He will be deeply missed but his legacy will live on through all who loved him.
With much gratitude, we want to thank Kindful Hospice for their loving support through this journey.
