June 19, 1961 to December 3, 2025
Ruth Marjorie Lawrence Guadalupe, age 64, passed away on December 3, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Ruth was a loving, strong, selfless, and nurturing woman whose presence filled every room with warmth, joy, and purpose.
Born on June 19, 1961, in Moneague, Saint Ann, Jamaica, Ruth was the beloved daughter of Margret Marjorie Hutchinson Lawrence and William James Lawrence. She later moved to the United States and was raised in Evanston, Illinois. From a young age, Ruth demonstrated discipline, confidence, and drive. She excelled in track and was deeply dedicated to gymnastics, early reflections of the strength and determination that would define her life.
Ruth pursued higher education with passion and excellence, earning both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing. She devoted her career to nursing and served patients in the Heart and Vascular Department Cath Lab at Memorial Hermann Medical Center within the Texas Medical Center. Ruth was actively working at the time of her passing and remained committed to caring for others through a profession rooted in compassion, skill, and service.
Ruth was a devoted mother to her eight children:
Urijah C. Guadalupe, Zinnijah P. Guadalupe, Leora Dona Guadalupe, Hannjah A. Guadalupe, Asher A. Guadalupe, Joshua W. Guadalupe, Liosha I. Santana, and Iyanla M. Santana.
She was also a proud grandmother to a large, beautiful, and growing family of grandchildren. Her grandchildren were a constant source of joy, laughter, and pride, and she cherished every moment spent loving and guiding them.
The baby of her family, Ruth will be deeply missed by her seven loving siblings: Jean, Barry, Kathleen, Dawn, June, Esther, and Sonia. As a sister, Ruth was cherished, protective, and full of love. Her siblings remember her as a bright light whose laughter, strength, and presence brought comfort and connection. She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Although Ruth was divorced, family remained the center of her world. She was the foundation her children and extended family leaned on for advice, direction, and encouragement. A natural leader and true go getter, Ruth believed in action, growth, and pushing those she loved to reach their highest potential.
Ruth found joy in life’s pleasures. She loved going to the beach, dancing, gardening, watching movies, and taking time for the gym and spa. She expressed love through the meals she cooked, the gatherings she hosted, and the generosity she shared so freely. Known for her glam and love of bling, Ruth carried herself boldly and beautifully, often favoring corals and pinks, colors that mirrored her vibrant spirit.
Ruth will be remembered as a bold, radiant, and joyful presence, the life of the party with an unmistakable light. She had so much to give and she gave fully, generously, and intentionally. Multitalented and multifaceted, Ruth showed up as a provider, a guide, a protector, and a constant source of support. Her legacy is one of love, strength, resilience, and abundance.
Ruth often reminded those around her, “Live your life and focus on what you want out of it.” She also shared with peace and certainty, “Celebrate me when I am gone. Be happy for me. This is a good thing. I am going to be in a beautiful space.” Those words now serve as comfort and guidance for all who loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Ruth’s honor. Attendees are respectfully invited to wear white and purple, colors that reflect her elegance, strength, and vibrant spirit, as we celebrate her life, legacy, and everlasting impact.
