Sam A. Ruffino, age 88, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017. Born in Sugar Land, Texas to Frank and Josephine Saladino Ruffino. Mr. Ruffino served his country honorably in the United States Army. Sam was a hardworking man, who retired from Hughes Tool Company in 1988, after 45 years of dedicated service, only to return to the workforce for an additional 17 years as a door greeter at Walmart. He was a gifted story teller and his "love of gab" endeared him to all that met him. Sam took pride in his involvement with the Knights of Columbus #2917 and his genuine friendliness shined as he conducted his usher duties during masses at Assumption Catholic Church, at which he was a member for over 50 years. Sam is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary Ann (Majorwitz) Ruffino; daughters, Marlene Ruffino, Theresa Lipscomb and husband Russell, Sandra Kwiatkowski and husband David, and Denise Ruffino; son, Sam Ruffino, Jr. and wife Melody; 10 grandchildren, David Jr., Nicholas, Sam, Disney, and Zakary Kwiatkowski; Anthony and Rachel Lipscomb; and Angela, Sam, and Charlene Ruffino; 4 great grandchildren, Celeste, Olivia, Joseph, and Everlee Kwiatkowski; and sister, Mary Messina. He will be greatly missed, but we take comfort that his memory will live on in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas 77060 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Assumption Catholic Church, 901 Rose Lane, Houston, Texas 77037. Interment will be 1:00 p.m., later the same day, at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
