

Sammy Harold Barrow, aged 90, of Houston, Texas, passed away on July 22, 2024. Born on February 9, 1934, in Beaumont, Texas, Sammy led a full life characterized by devotion to his family, faith, and community.
A graduate of Jefferson Davis High School, Sammy went on to attend U of H College and then he served honorably in the Navy from 1957 to 1961. He built a successful career as a businessman, always maintaining a reputation for generosity and integrity. Sammy was a founding member of St. Anthony the Great Orthodox Church in Spring, Texas, where he was deeply involved and served faithfully. His commitment to his faith was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a passionate man, always ready with a joke to brighten someone's day. Sammy was also an avid horse enthusiast, a hobby that brought him much joy throughout his life.
Sammy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sandra Lou Barrow; his parents, Maggie and Alex Barrow Sr.; his brother, Alex Barrow Jr.; sister, Betty Murr; and granddaughter, Julie Ann Bang. He is survived by his daughters, Lenetta Cardinal (Al) and Karen Mitchell: sons, Bruce Bang (Jenny) and Bart Barrow (Ruby): stepchildren, Caroline Smelker and Johnathan Smelker; eleven grandchildren, James Michael, Ashley, Brandon, Dustin, Stephanie, Christopher, Sophie, Bruce, Ruby, Sydney and Seth; and nine great-grandchildren. His grandchildren affectionately knew him as “Jido,” a testament to the cherished moments they spent together.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM followed by the funeral service from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM at St. Anthony the Great Orthodox Church, 7202 Farm to Market 2920, Spring, TX. Pall Bearers will include James Michael Vani, Brandon Trenck, Dustin Trenck, Johnathan Smelker, Christopher Vani, Bruce Wayne Bang, and Seth Barrow. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Bruce Bang and Bart Barrow.
Burial will be on Wednesday August 7, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery 13102 North Fwy, Houston, Texas. There will be a reception after the burial as well.
Sammy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
