

Shirley raised her family in Santa Ana, California and Houston, Texas. She enjoyed cooking, baking and loved to travel back to Decorah, Iowa to visit family and friends. Ever strong and courageous, Shirley faced every struggle head on, without falter or hesitation. She was a tender, gracious, beautiful, witty, fun-loving, and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
Shirley is survived by her adoring husband Bob Brooks, daughter Janell Haugen and husband Mike of Decorah, Iowa, son Larry Faldet and wife Carol of Dallas, Texas, daughter Jodi Kyle and husband Troy of Tomball, Texas, stepson Blaine Brooks and wife Leigh Ann of Houston, Texas, and daughter-in-law Wendy Faldet of San Antonio, Texas. Also surviving are grandchildren Brad Haugen, Sarah Haugen, Lauren Campbell, Erik Faldet, Cooper Faldet, Sydney Kyle, Case Kyle, Harrison Brooks, Madeline Brooks and great-grandchildren Kiara Haugen and Gavin Haugen. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and son Terry Lee Faldet of San Antonio, Texas.
Family and friends gathered for a visitation from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Earthman Funeral Directors Hunters Creek, 8303 Katy Freeway in Houston, where services were held in the chapel on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Graveside services and interment followed at Woodlawn Garden of Memories, also in Houston.
