Shirley Ruth McLeroy

Shirley Ruth McLeroy, 80, of Houston, Texas passed away on June 14, 2024, in Houston, Texas. She was born on January 29, 1944, to Bob and Ida Mae Evans. She married the love of her life Joe McLeroy on April 5, 1963, in Houston, Texas.

Shirley,along with her best friend Glenda Little, worked together for eight years at Southwestern Bell. She then devoted all her time to raise her loving children. Listening to oldies music while doing puzzles was past time for her. She also enjoyed going to lunch with her church ladies and swinging on the porch watching the world go by.

Shirley is survived by her sons Robert McLeroy and Travis McLeroy and his fiancé Bradley Bankhead; daughter-in-law Eloisa McLeroy; grandchildren Joseph, Joshua, Morgan and Wyatt McLeroy.

She is preceded in passing by her husband of 50 years Joe McLeroy; son Shannon McLeroy; parents Bob and Ida Mae Evans; siblings Tommy, Jean, and Kathy.

The family welcomes flowers or donations in her memory to her church Life Brook church where she was a member for 35 years.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM with a service to start at 11:30 AM at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd., Houston, TX 77008. Following the service Shirley will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Dr., Houston, TX 77055.
