Shirley Rae Mitchell West, age 68, went to be with her Lord Thursday, July 10, 2014 in Tomball, Texas. Born and raised in Hooper, Nebraska, she served in Vietnam, and was a nurse of 44 years, retiring from Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burrill and Irma Mitchell; brother, Dennis Mitchell; and sister, Phyllis Mitchell. Survived by daughters, Janet Long and husband David, and Cynthia Harmon; grandchildren: Cameron Mitchell Kim, Ethan Gabriel Kim, and Justin David Long; sisters: Charlene Selberg, and Inez Walters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 3801 S. Panther Creek Dr., The Woodlands, Texas 77381. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 14, 2014 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Interment will be held privately at Houston National Cemetery.
