And Stuart’s season, though far too brief, was full of quiet wonder, deep faith, and many fun adventures. With a humble heart he enjoyed helping others when needed, and his witty sense of humor made people smile.
Stuart lived his childhood in two states on the opposite sides of the US. He was born in North Houston on August 30, 1994, to Greg and Carol Lantz, but lived in a country home in Conroe, TX until he was 7 years old. He was the youngest of 3 children and together with sister, Jessica, and brother, Eric, he enjoyed playing with the animals and roasting marshmallows on the large fire that his dad would make to burn cut trees. His family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where he played in snow and ice skated for the first time. After about 3 years, his family moved back to Texas. He learned to play the Tuba in Middle School, and it was as large as he was. He was part of the Navy ROTC in high school and gave his all trying to overcome the challenges. After High School, he got his associates degree at Lone Star Community College and took one online semester at the University of Houston. His mom sat in the hallway during his classes to be available when he had an episode, but nothing deterred him from reaching his goals. Although the battle with epilepsy was hard and challenging, he enjoyed a simple life to the fullest possible.
Stuart had many interests and enjoyed a variety of things at home and out with family. While at home, he enjoyed playing a good game of chess, taking on mystical battles within computer games, laughing at an episode of Futurama, evening walks, or reading his King James bible. When able, he was always ready to join his dad to watch a local wrestling show, including a trip to Corpus Christi to see WWE live, and go with his mom on many weekend trips like Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, local museums, or simply visit out of town family. He was a pleasure to be around for everyone.
He adored being Uncle Stuart to his 7-year-old nephew, Mark, especially when playing with Legos and building Lincoln Log forts. When in the backyard, they would both have a laugh when he showed Mark where to find the big worms to show Grandma Carol. Stuart and Mark both had a love for Chinese buffets, but Stuart’s favorite restaurant was Chuy’s for a Elvis Presley Memorial Combo with enchiladas. Stuart cooked a pot of chili at least once a week and had a bowl ready for anyone to enjoy with a bag of Fritos and a glass of sweet, iced tea. Something not everyone knows is that Stuart liked to make his own salsa from fresh ingredients. He also liked to mention the fact that jalapenos have more vitamin C than oranges. He tried to convince everyone to eat fresh jalapenos with meals or if they mentioned needing more vitamin C.
Though he walked a hard road, he never lost his faith. It was quiet, strong, and unwavering—like him. His trust in God was easily visible within his quiet composure.
He is missed fiercely but is remembered with laughter, good memories, and a deep gratitude for the gift of knowing him. Stuart, your season with us was a treasured one.
Stuart is lovingly remembered and survived by his parents, Greg and Carol Lantz, sister Jessica Muskiet, brother Eric Lantz, nephew Mark Muskiet, as well as his Uncle Ronnie Lantz, Uncle Mike and Aunt Desiree Lantz, Aunt Sharon and Uncle Steve Mercure, Aunt Kathy Davis, and his cousins, Dylan Lantz, Robert Mercure, Emily Clayborn, David Davis, Amanda Joyner, and Michaela Poplin.
