In early adulthood, Tammy worked in downtown Houston for Houston Lighting and Power. She often told stories of her days as a city girl spending her lunch break shopping in the tunnels. In her later twenties, Tammy started her career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse caring for the elderly in skilled nursing facilities. She had a gift for serving others, always treating her patients with dignity, respect and compassion.
Tammy had a lifelong love for animals. She rescued and cared for countless cats and dogs – even a few birds and squirrels. She couldn’t help but to keep many of them to love as her own pets including her little lamb, JoJo that she loved so much. Often times she would put the needs of her pets before her own.
Above all else, Tammy loved Jesus and her family. She taught her children and grandchildren of Jesus’ love and she gave that kind of unconditional love to them. Nothing gave her greater joy than being in the company of her four kids and grandkids to whom she’s lovingly known as “Honeymom”. She often mentioned some of the best times of her life were at the annual “Lake House Extravaganzas” surrounded by her kids and grandkids.
Tamara was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Lane. She is survived by her mother, Jean Lane; daughter, Dusty Welch and husband Joshua Welch; son, Sean Rogers and wife Imelda Rogers; daughter, Holly Morris; daughter Julia Kelley and significant other Matthew Romero; grandchildren, Stephen Juarez, Stephanie Juarez, Cruz Barrientos, Alamea Rogers, Makaio Rogers, Oliver Kincer and Leandro Romero; sister, Tanya Webb and husband Lee Webb; brother, Robert Lane and wife Felicia Lane and many nieces, nephews, coworkers and friends.
