Teresa Carmona Marquez

Teresa Carmona Marquez, was born in Austin, Texas on Tuesday, July 14, 1931, to parents Desideria Melendez Carmona and Carmen Colunga Carmona. While surrounded by her loving family in Houston, Texas, Teresa passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2014, at the age of 82.

Teresa is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Manuel A. Marquez, Sr.; son, Manuel C. Marquez, Jr.; brother, Joe Carmona; sisters, Esther Carmona, Delia Gonzalez, Santa Leyendecker; grandson-in-law, Bart Schramm and by her parents. She is survived by her son, Roy Marquez and wife Margaret; daughters, Lucy Gonzales and husband Eddie, Mary Ann Tamayo and husband Andy; grandsons, Andy Tamayo and wife Rosy, Allen W. Tamayo and wife Claudia, Manuel Tamayo and partner Mark, Edward J. Gonzales and wife Lori, Roy C. "Buddy" Marquez, Jr.; granddaughters, Esther M. Gonzales, Monica T. Bargas and husband David, Erica M. Gonzales, Jennifer Ruiz and husband Alex; great grandsons, A.J. Tamayo, Stephen Schramm, Joseph Bargas, David Joshua Bargas, Grant Schramm; great granddaughters, Teresa Lizette Bargas, Aileen Tamayo, Yanely Tamayo; her sister, Mary C. Resendez, many other relatives and dear friends.

Family and friends gathed at a visitation in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2014, where the Rosary was recited by Deacon Bill Wilson, at 7:00 p.m.

On Saturday morning, February 15, 2014, a viewing begin at 8:30 a.m. and lasted until the start of the Funeral Liturgy at 9:30 a.m., in the sanctuary of St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell St. in Houston. Reverend Philip P. Lloyd celebrated the Mass.

The Rite of Committal was led by Deacon Bill Wilson at Woodlawn Garden of Memories, 1101 Antoine, where Teresa was laid to rest with her husband and son.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Andy Tamayo, Allen Willie Tamayo, Manuel Tamayo, Edward J. Gonzales, Roy C. "Buddy" Marquez, Jr., Alex Ruiz, David Bargas and in spirit, Bart Schramm. Serving as honorary pallbearers were A.J. Tamayo, Stephen Schramm, Joseph Bargas and David Joshua Bargas.
