Born on September 29th, 1930, in Birmingham Alabama, he graduated high school, and like his brothers 10 years earlier, entered military service after WWII. In the navy, he travelled across the USA for training, and bases stationed. Most of his naval career, the entire Mediterranean was his port of call, able visit the most important sights and historic remains of the Ancient World and Renaissance. After serving his full Naval term, he moved to Houston, Texas where he would remain.
An enthusiastic father, he shared his passion for camping, hiking, canoeing, sailing, music, football, national parks, and travelling. He often joked that nature was his backyard. A gifted and prolific photographer his entire life, many of his photographs appear on book and CD covers, exhibitions, and grace countless walls. He strove to capture majestic beauty with his lens, accomplished time and time again.
He now joins his sons Terrell and Tom, his siblings Vernette, George, Hal, and James, his father and beloved mother, and dear friends Wynn, Gerald, Jerry, Jean Paul, Joy, and Erik Dahlman.
