

Titus Melvin Barnes, Jr. was born on January 28, 1940,to Titus Sinclaire Barnes and Victoria Turner Barnes in Houston, Texas, at Hermann Hospital. He was a member of Center Street Church of God in Christ and Williams Temple Church of God in Christ during his early childhood years.Titus attended 23rd Avenue Elementary School, BookerT. Washington Jr. High School and later went to Phyllis
Wheatley High School, where he graduated in the Class of 1957. He went on to further his education at Fisk University,obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Biology on August 4, 1961.Also, as an undergraduate student, Titus pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated in the Spring of 1958. He
continued his post-graduate education at Maharry Medical School of Dentistry.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he studied and obtained a certification in Medical Technology. He served his country for four years. He obtained an honorable discharge from the Air Force on February 27th, 1969.While in the Air Force in California, he married his college sweetheart, Brenda Bilbrey, in 1963. Two children were born to this union: Titus Haskell Barnes III and Eric CarlBarnes. He later married Patricia Hill, and one son was born to this union, Patrick Barnes.
After returning to Houston, Titus attended and graduated from Commonwealth College of Funeral Services to pursue a career as a licensed mortician and funeral director. He was a member of the Eta Chapter, Pi Sigma Eta Fraternity at Commonwealth College.
He was an avid artist and musician. He loved barbequing and listening to all types of music.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his sons, Titus III, Eric(Dajuana), Patrick, David, and twins, Shawn and Scott.Nine grandchildren: Malankaya, Jasmine, Joseph, Tyrell,Celera, Victoria, Cherish, Christopher, and Pamela. Five grandchildren: Mikiah, Keelan, Javari, Joseph Jr., and Josiah. Two sisters, Bertha Barnes Hightower (Hollis) and Carroll Barnes Dixon (James). One aunt, Ora Lee Barnes
Robinson. A special niece/sister, Cari Valita Barnes. A special cousin, Doris Barnes-Green. A host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
