

Tommy N. Roy, age 87, of Houston, Texas, departed from this life on February 28, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born in Arp, Texas, Smith County on January 29, 1938, to Tommie Willis Roy and Rosetta (Chester) Roy.
Tommy accepted Christ as a child at El Bethel Baptist Church and as his family moved, he later transferred his membership to New Home Baptist Church, Smith County Texas where he remained a faithful member. He attended the Church of Christ in Houston.
A proud graduate of Arp Industrial High School, Tommy excelled in sports, particularly football and demonstrated great athleticism and determination.
Tommy began his career working at Brookshire Grocery in Tyler, Texas and later moved to Houston where he worked at Fleming. He eventually transitioned to a position with the local ILA and worked as a Longshoremen until his retirement. As a dedicated member of ILA Local 24, he held the office as treasurer. Retiring from his career as a shipyard worker with 31 years of service, he leaves behind a legacy of hard work and service.
Tommy is survived by his loving children: daughters Demetrius Dian Howard (Charles), Daphna Roy Williams, Ardella Driver, Kimm Thomas (Ronald), and sons Leonard Darrell Roy, and Patrick L. Starling. His memory will be cherished by his thirteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie and Rosetta Roy; wives and life partners; a brother Willis Roy(Babbie); his sister Ardella Goodwin his brother Chester Roy; his sister Commella Key; and his children Timothy DeNerrio Roy, Sophia Patrice Davis and Wanda Jean Davis.
Tommy’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will remember him for his strength, determination, love and devotion.
