Shorty grew up in a family of seven children raised by a single mother. He was a natural born comedian and entertainer. He was the life of the party. He took on the role as the man of the house for many years. Shorty was very territorial with his siblings. HE was determined to help his single mom so he took on a paper route at the age of 13. He stayed gainfully employed until his untimely passing which included 34 years with united parcel service. He was looking forward to retirement at the end of 2020. HE was a natural born athlete and enjoyed interacting with his younger twin brothers. His four sisters he loved dearly and had a unique relationship with each one of them.
In 1990 Shorty met Lelisa Preston and shared a unique and special relationship. They were happily married until his passing. Tyryn was a great provider and held down his household. The couple loved taking road trips to the casino. They loved sheltering and raising animals.
He was an avid sports fan but his heart from childhood was always with the Dallas Cowboys whether they were winners or losers. In his leisure time he loved playing poker, taking to go plates, hanging with his boys and having a cold busch beer.
Tyryn departed this life on Monday 5/11/2020 at 1:51p.m. He was proceeded in death by his mother Exvelma Mims and her husband Melvin Mims.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Lelisa Simmons, his daughters Portia Williams, Layla “TUDA” Turner, very Special Nephew Jaycion “Ja-Bo” Ford, Step-daughter Brandy Preston, Stepson Clayton Preston Jr (Marie). He also leaves his siblings
Cecily Davis (Mitchell) Teryce Simmons (Harold) Kevin Thompson ( Dana) Kraig Thompson (Katrina) Evette Webb (Uranthus) and Dedria Tomlinson-Ellison (Roy) and host of nieces, nephews that loved him dearly & special friends.
