Virginia “Kina” Perez, age 82, of Houston, Texas, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandma, and great grandma, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on May 30, 1940, to Florentino Castillo and Anita Martinez Castillo. Virginia graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1959. Virginia married Ismael “Mayo” Perez on July 25, 1964, after meeting at a grocery store in Corpus Christi, Texas. She remained a devoted wife for 56 years.
Virginia worked as a Special Education Aide for the Houston Independent School District at Edison Middle School for 25 years. She had a great passion for gardening, cooking, baking, arts and crafts, drawing, painting, and reading.
She is preceded in death by her parents Florentino Castillo and Anita Martinez Castillo, siblings Jesus Castillo, Juan Manuel Castillo, Jose Reyes Castillo, Carlos Castillo, Alberto Castillo, Ramona De Los Santos and spouse Francisco De Los Santos, Guadalupe Flores and spouse Esteban Flores, and brother-in-law Franklin P. Smith “Sandy”.
Left to cherish her memory are her five children Martin Perez and wife Becky Perez, Ismael Perez II, Cynthia Ann Aguilar and husband Gabriel Aguilar, Michael Perez and wife Samantha Jackson Perez, and Laura Ann Stott and husband Spencer Stott, grandchildren, Ashleigh Aguilar, Cory Norsworthy, Michael Perez Jr., Stephanie Perez, Gabriel Aguilar, Dominique Perez, Martin Perez Jr., Justin Perez, Kross Hinojosa and Ashton Stott; great-grandchildren Brooklyn Thomas, Drue Norsworthy and Elijah Norsworthy; siblings Gloria Smith and Mary Jane Bean.
Virginia never missed an opportunity to show her creativity. She enjoyed making crafts with her grandchildren and cooking for her family. She will be sorely missed.
A visitation for Virginia will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, from 5:00PM to 9:00PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A rosary service will occur Wednesday, October 5, 2022, from 7:00PM to 8:00PM. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 9:00AM to 10:00AM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A committal service will occur Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 10:00AM to 10:30AM at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
