

Virginia Sparks, born December 3rd, 1943, to Amado and Fermina Aguilar in Houston, Texas, passed away March 20, 2011 in Houston. Virginia was the lovely wife of her beloved husband, Kenneth Sparks, for 19 years. She is survived by her two daughters, JoAnn Hooks and husband, Richard, and Leah Espinosa-Hamilton and husband, Timothy. She is also survived by Tren Sparks and Kenneth Sparks, Jr., sons of Kenneth Sparks. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and brothers, John Aguilar and wife, Soledad, Amado Aguilar, Jr., and Manuel Aguilar. She is survived by her brothers, Carmen Aguilar (Betty) from Michigan, Pete Aguilar (Shannon) from California, Ernest Aguilar (Aurora) from California, Raymond Aguilar (Lynda) from California, and sisters Dolores Aguilar of Houston, and Josephine Cardona (Armando) of Houston; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Aguilar and Emma Aguilar, and by numerous other family and friends.
She retired from AT&T in 2004. She had a lifelong love of family, music, community, and planning celebrations. Most recently, she developed a passion for gardening and playing the piano. Virginia was active in many clubs and organizations throughout her life, but those most precious to her were the Houston Heights Woman's Club, where she was recently nominated President for 2011-2012 (where she would have been the first Hispanic President in the 110-year history of the club); the Houston Heights #258 O.E.S. where she was a longtime secretary; and a member of the Eagles Auxiliary #63.
Virginia cherished the friendships she gained from her many involvements and loved sharing her time and talent for the betterment of others. She will always be remembered for her smile, selfless generosity, constantly thinking of the needs of others, and her unwavering faith in God. She will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2011 in the Chapel of Heights Funeral Home, where a vigil service and rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011 in the Chapel of Heights Funeral Home. Interment will be private in Houston National Cemetery.
