Warren Jackson Graybill, of Houston, Texas, age 98, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Warren was born on January 23, 1919 in Huntsville, Texas to Minyard and Della Graybill. Warren’s family moved from Huntsville to Houston when he was in the second grade and he began his working career at that early age by helping the postman deliver mail. He went on to graduate from Milby High School and attended the University of Houston until he was drafted in World War II in 1941. In 1942, he married the love of his life, Marion Sledge while he was attending basic training and Officers’ Candidate School. During his time overseas, he attained the rank of First Lieutenant and was in the Machine Records Unit of the First Army Headquarters. Warren was in the European theater and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service and five major battle stars. After the war, he worked for thirty-three years in the Data Processing Division of Shell Oil Company. He retired in 1979 and he and Marion moved to Kerrville, Texas and enjoyed many years in Kerrville and traveling around the U.S. in their travel trailer. Warren was a man of faith and a wonderful Christian example to all who knew him. He loved his family dearly and always put others first. He was funny, witty, but strong and firm in his beliefs and values. We will all miss him greatly.
A special thanks to the staff at Belmont Village Senior Living for the wonderful care they gave to Warren for the last four and a half years.
