

Wayne Ferguson, 81 of Porter, Texas passed away at his home on Saturday, September 21, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 16, 1938 in Houston, Texas. He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him. Wayne loved worshipping and serving the Lord in his home church at ( Humble First Assembly of God). Through the years Wayne loved serving as an Usher, Official Greeter, working with the Men's Ministries on the Annual Golf Tournament and as a former Trustee, in his younger years. As a greeter, he loved reaching out to new people or members, that God sent his way, mentoring them until they were firm in their faith. For enjoyment he loved most camping with family and friends, cooking, making deserts and playing a round of golf with his buddies. Wayne promised the Lord many years ago, that he would be busy in "His Service" until He called him home.
He was a foreman for CenterPoint before retiring after 32 years.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Ferguson; sons, Darrel Ferguson and wife, Iris; and Mike Ferguson; grandchildren, Darrel, Jr and Amanda Ferguson, Chase and Chip Ferguson; David and Ashley Needham; great-grandchildren, Emily, Johnathon and Ashly Ferguson and Kinsley Needham and Halen Ferguson along with a host of nieces and nephews and a foster daughter, Jackie Waller and family.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Norma Urquhart; brothers, Charles and Arthur Gamble; sisters, Lena Vickers and Dana Akeroyd and daughter-in-law, Melody Ferguson.
Funeral services will be held11:00am, Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Humble First Assembly with visitation beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery at 1:00pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Darrel Ferguson, Jr., David Needham, Johnathon Ferguson, Chase Ferguson, Chip Ferguson, David Brown, Jimmy Stegall and Fadi Saade
