Wayne is survived by his only son, 1LT Robert Townsend, Jr., his wife Melanie, and five grandchildren; his sister Mary Frances Townsend; and his best friend and brother-in-law Robert Brown.
The family will receive friends at a memorial visitation from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Heights Funeral Home.
The family respectfully requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund for a marker and scholarship at the Ex-Students Association of The University of Texas at Austin.
