Wendell Ray Keilers

Wendell Ray Keilers left this earth on August 7, 2022 at the age of 72. He was born on December 24, 1949 to Atlan and Lillie Mae Keilers in Houston, Texas. He attended Houston schools De Chaumes, Burbank, and Sam Houston High School where he met his love Johnnie and they were married on April 26, 1969. After high school he went to South Texas College until being accepted into the Houston Fire Academy where he started a 35 and a half year career with the Houston Fire Department. He spent most of his career at Station 61 and 70 retiring as a Senior Captain. He also worked a second job at PS Business Park for many years. He loved the Lord and was a 47 year member of Watters Road Church of Christ. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. After retirement Wendell spent most of his time at church, with family and friends, fishing and working in his yard.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents Atlan and Lillie Keilers, brother-in-law Bill Clemans and sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Jimmy Copeland.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Johnnie Keilers, son Byron Keilers and wife Ashley, daughter Amber Gonzales and husband Jacob, daughter Delana Alaniz and husband Kevin and grandchildren Cameron Keilers, Preslee Alaniz, Atlee Gonzales, Adree Gonzales, Brayden Keilers, Payten Alaniz, Weston Keilers, Jake Gonzales, and Pierce Alaniz. He is also survived by his sister Pearley Clemans, brother Allen Keilers and wife Ann, and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 13th at Watters Road Church of Christ located at 3616 Watters Rd, Pasadena, TX 77504 at 10:30AM with a luncheon to follow. A visitation will be held at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home following the luncheon at 1:30PM with a graveside following at 2:30PM at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery. The family requests that all flowers be sent to Watters Road Church of Christ.
