

In Calvert, Texas on October 7, 1941 a child was born to Ralph & Ophelia Anderson, the fifth boy and the ninth child. They named him Willie. The family relocated to Houston and settled in The Heights. They united with Second Baptist Church where Rev. W. P. Perry served as Pastor. Willie was baptized while a young child and as a result was a part of many auxiliaries of the church. His passion was singing. He sung with the family, the church choirs and the male chorus. Because of his melodious voice, he was often called upon to sing. He was the lead singer of many groups. Even in his sickness, he continued to sing.Willie was educated at 23rd Avenue Elementary School, Harper Junior High and Booker T. Washington High School. Willie met and married Stella L. Milligan and to this union 3 sons were born; Anthony, Forrest and Darrell. He served in the United States Army. Willie served in Vietnam during his time in the military. During his stint in the military, he received the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter Badge (rifle), Letter of Commendation, Good Conduct and Letter of Appreciation. While stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky, he united in marriage to Hattie Johnson. To this union 6 children were born; Rita, Willie Jr., Mynita, Cynthia, Ralph III & Matthew. He united with Greater 1st Peter Baptist Church where Rev. H. Hollins shepherds the flock. He continued to sing and served in many capacities in the church. After returning he reunited with Second Baptist. Then after leaving The Heights, he united with Mount Olive Baptist Church until his homegoing.He was preceded in death by 2 sons; Forrest & Willie Jr., 1 daughter; Mynita, father; Ralph, mother; Ophelia, sisters; Peggy, Nell, Helen and Lizzie, brothers; Ralpl Jr., James "Pig", Vernon, M.C., Joe and John "Cookie."He leaves a loving and devoted wife Hattie, four sons, Anthony & wife Debra, Darrell & wife Lynette, Ralph & wife Krystal, and Matthew, 2 daughters; Rita & Cynthia and husband Eric, grandchildren; Dawnestell, Jasmine, Hezekiah, Jackson, Alyssa, Taylor and Briell, great grandchildren; Leila, Serenity and Xavier, Two sisters; Jean and Ester & a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
