Wyvone found her soulmate and true love, Robert L. Heath, Sr., at Reagan High School in Houston, Texas. She later married Robert, her “high school sweetheart” in 1967. The couple recently celebrated their “Emerald” 55th wedding anniversary on February 25, 2022.
As a loving and devoted mother of 3 children, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, Wyvone found true happiness and pride in her family. She especially loved spending time with each, and every one of her grandchildren. The love for her grandchildren always put a sparkle in her eye, and a smile on her face. They were truly the light of her life.
In her early years, Wyvone could be seen hitting the trails on her dirt bike, serving aces on the tennis court, playing co-ed volleyball and softball at Baptist Temple and the YMCA, along with skiing the slopes of the Colorado Rockies.
Wyvone’s favorite time of the year was Fall, where she enjoyed the clear sapphire blue skies with falling temperatures and leaves changing colors. She would often make the comment, “I can smell Fall in the air.”
Wyvone’s career started at Houston Lighting and Power at the early age of 18. She then pursued a career as a legal secretary for Butler & Binion Law Firm for 23 years.
Wyvone was a true artist, finding joy decorating the world around her. While still working at Butler & Binion, she created her wedding cake business, “Weddings by Wyvone”. Creating ever lasting memories for so many couples. Her children could often be found in the kitchen in hopes of getting a taste of mom’s homemade cake and icing. Wyvone was even sponsored in 1969 by the Wilton Company to teach cake decorating at Foley’s in downtown Houston.
In the early 1990’s, Wyvone retired, and pursued her love of creating custom floral arrangements. Her work was beautiful, each piece a work of art, and more importantly each piece created with love. Wyvone found tremendous joy traveling to craft shows along the gulf coast, sharing her masterpieces with others, and making life-long friends along the way. Some of her favorite shows were in the small towns of Chappell Hill, Round Top and Fredericksburg.
Wyvone touched the lives of many along the way. Her kind and gentle smile will never be forgotten. Wyvone will be dearly missed until we unite with her again in Heaven.
Wyvone is preceded in death by her parents, George A. James, Jr. and Marion James; her brother George A. James III. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her survivors; husband, Robert L.
