November 23, 1938 – October 23, 2025
Yvonne Ann Carr Shuler Psenick entered her eternal rest on October 23, 2025, in Austin, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She lived 86 years and 11 months as a faithful servant of God, walking daily in His love, grace, and light.
Yvonne’s life was a reflection of her unwavering faith. She lived with a generous heart, a patient spirit, and a steadfast trust in the Lord. Her quiet strength and joyful heart reminded all who knew her that true beauty is found in a life rooted in faith and love. She encouraged her family and friends to keep their eyes lifted toward the light of God’s goodness and to meet each day with gratitude and grace.
Born in Houston, Texas, Yvonne built her life on a foundation of faith and family. She married the first love of her life, Donald Wayne Shuler, on July 23, 1958, and together they raised two wonderful sons, Bruce Wayne and William Edward. Though Donald’s untimely passing in 1979 brought great sorrow, Yvonne’s faith never wavered. She leaned on the Lord’s promises and continued to find joy in serving others and cherishing her loved ones.
Yvonne dedicated many years to the United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier. It was by God’s design that she met Fred Ladd Psenick, who would become her second beloved husband and partner in faith. They were married on April 16, 1988, in Houston, and through this union, Yvonne gained three children — Donna, Larry, and Michael.
Fred and Yvonne made their home in Smithville, Texas, where they embraced the blessings of small-town life, family, and fellowship. Her hobbies included serving with the Altar Society at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, participating in the Red Hat Society, cooking, thrifting, and bargain shopping. Together they tended their home and hearts with love, surrounded by caring neighbors and dear friends who became their extended family. Yvonne never met a stranger.
Throughout her life, Yvonne’s greatest joy was her family, her friends, and serving her Lord and Savior. Over 32 years of marriage, the Shuler–Psenick family grew to include seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She rejoiced in every new generation, seeing in them the living testimony of God’s promise.
Yvonne’s life was a testament to Psalm 46:10:
“Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
Her light — born of deep faith and endless love — continues to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she has gone home to be with her Lord, her spirit remains with us: a reminder of the beauty of a life well-lived in God’s grace, mercy, and eternal love.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her father, Jesse O. Carr; mother, Pauline M. Cernick; beloved husbands, Donald W. Shuler and Fred L. Psenick; and her brother, Jess W. Carr. Daughter in law Leah Shuler. Nephew, Michael P. Hagans.
She is survived by her sons, Bruce Wayne Shuler and William Edward Shuler; her sisters, Marilyn (Fred) Hagans and Arlene (David) Hardwick; her stepchildren, Donna, Larry, and Michael Psenick; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
