

Ben Battle, Sr., was born on October 23, 1933 in Huntsville, Alabama to the late Maggie Adams and Edmon Battle. He went to sleep peacefully at Redstone Village, Tuesday, February 4, 2025. He was known by many nicknames. He was affectionally called “Pop Pop” by his granddaughter Chyna, “Punkin” by his daughter Loraine, “Partner and Buddy” by his son Ben, while known also as “Pa Pa“ by others that were close to him.
Ben attended Council High School located in Huntsville, AL, and upon graduation he joined the Navy, and served for 15 years. When he began studying the Bible with Jehovah Witnesses, he made the most important decision of his life. He terminated his employment with the military to dedicate his life to serve Jehovah God. He retired from his career as Postmaster with the United States Postal Services after serving more than 25 years.
He proudly served as an elder in the Huntsville East Congregation, and was known to be loving, caring, and compassionate. Ben was truly a loving shepherd to Jehovah’s sheep.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Marie Battle, and his daughter Alissa Avery; five brothers, Lawson, Leroy, William, Abraham, and James Battle; two sisters, Augusta, and Ella Battle. He will be dearly missed by two children, Ben Battle, Jr. (Valencia), Huntsville, AL; Loraine Ragin (Lamarr) Brownsboro, AL; one granddaughter, who was “the apple of his eye” Chyna Peebles (Roderick) Huntsville, AL; one brother, Edmon Battle, Jr. (Mae) Huntsville, AL; two sisters, Willie Mae Smith Clarksville, TN, and Earline Dockery, Dunwoody, GA; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and his numerous friends and Christian brothers and sisters.
