A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Mayfair Church of Christ. Interment, with Military Honors will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday.
Bud was born in Bruceton, TN to Herschel Sr. and Nell Belew and raised in Huntingdon, TN where he graduated from Huntingdon High School. He attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1949. He served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952 where he tested and designed armored vehicles. After completing his military service he worked for TVA before moving to Huntsville, Alabama and starting his stellar career with NASA from 1955 to 1989. He was recognized for his contributions to the lunar landing, space shuttle and space exploration. He was known for his adventurous spirit, quick wit and love of the outdoors. He could keep you captivated for hours with his lively storytelling. He was a loving father, devoted husband and dedicated Christian.
Bud was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy S. Belew and his daughter, Linda A. Belew.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Norma A. Belew; his son, David M. Belew; daughter, Mary Belew Elkins and husband Barry; step daughters, Kim Tuzzio, and Stephanie Robbins and husband Ronnie; and grandchildren, Amanda Hunter, Rachel Flom and Cooper Elkins.
