

BORN: SEPTEMBER 30, 1928 - DIED: APRIL 8, 2015 Charles Winston Lovell of Huntsville, Alabama shed his Earthly body on April 8, 2015, to reap his Heavenly reward. “Charlie” was born in Hueytown, Alabama on September 30, 1928. He graduated from West End High School in Birmingham in 1947, where he lettered in multiple sports. He married Mary Lenna Cash on December 26, 1950. Charlie Lovell served in the U.S. Air Force from August 14, 1950 until August 13, 1954, as an aircraft mechanic, rising to the level of Staff SGT with the 309th Strategic Fighter Wing squadron during the Korean War. He moved his family to Huntsville in 1960 to support the Apollo Program, as manager of a technical writer group with Hayes International Corporation, supporting Marshall Space Flight Center. He later worked as a V.P. with D.G. Robinson in support of a contract at Warner Robbins Air Force Base in Georgia. Charlie Lovell was preceded in death by his parents, Bertie Eugene and Cora Green Lovell, and his brothers, Bertie Lovell, Jr., George Lovell and Clarence Lovell. He is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Mary Lenna Lovell, daughter Nancy Goldman and husband Gene, sons Terry Lovell and wife Michelle, Chuck Lovell, Tim Lovell and wife Pam, grandchildren Jordon Lovell, Chase Lovell, and Candace Camp and her husband Matt, and Special Family Friend and Caregiver Teresa Beeler. Visitation, from 10-11 AM followed by Funeral Mass to be held Friday, April 10 at 11 AM at St. Mary of the Visitation in Huntsville, with interment to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. The family requests donations to Alzheimer’s and Dementia organizations of your choice in lieu of flowers.
