Charlotte Snider Jones, 90 of Huntsville, AL passed on to Heaven Friday, July 30, 2021. Charlotte was born in Mount Eden, Kentucky on July 8, 1931 to Claude Lee Snider and Louise Cleveland Snider. Charlotte had an older brother Claude Snider, Jr and sister Kathleen Anderson who both resided in Kentucky with their families.
After graduating from Atherton Girls High School in 1949, Charlotte began working at a department store in Louisville, KY. There was a young man, Prince Jones Jr., working there as a stockman while he attended TV repair school in the city. Her “Prince Charming” whisked her off to Decatur, AL where they were married in July 1951. Charlotte attended business school but chose to be homemaker, which she enjoyed. Prince took a job at Redstone Arsenal, which would soon become part of NASA. He became weary of the commute so they purchased a home “as close to the arsenal as they could get”, and the Joneses made Huntsville their home base in 1958. They had two daughters, Jacqueline in 1953 and Julie in 1960.
Charlotte always had artistic abilities, but during the 1970s she stepped into the world of oil painting and produced some beautiful works. In 1977, Prince and Charlotte were introduced to a new friend in the Holy Spirit and their lives were dramatically changed. They became members of Faith Chapel and have dearly loved their church and cherished their relationships. Charlotte became known for intercessory prayer and a stout faith. Jacqueline was married to Richard Blakeslee in 1991 til her death in 2003. Julie married Alex Mouvery in 1983, and they have two daughters, Samara and Summer (In 2017 Summer married Chris McCall). But God had more good things in store. Richard, met a new love, Susan, and as Charlotte was privy to their blooming romance, she and Prince were more than delighted to welcome Susan into the family in 2005.
Charlotte has been described as a mother with many “chicks under her wings” praying for and supporting a host of people as well as teaching the Word. The more she learned about the Lord, the more she wanted to be with Him. In 2011, after 60 years of marriage she became a widow, and her trust in God’s many provisions never waned. God has been faithful to His promises and Charlotte testified to His faithfulness, power, and great love.
A visitation for Charlotte will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811.
