
Charlotte Nelle Roberts – May 20, 1931 – September 30, 2014 Char was born in Chicago, IL on May 20, 1931. Her family moved to Detroit, MI in 1943, and that is where she would meet and marry her husband Bill, to whom she was married for 59 years. Char worked at Wayne County General Hospital for 25 years, and then worked as an on-call nurse for a variety of doctor’s offices for another 3 years. After they both retired Char and her husband, Bill spent 5 ½ years as missionaries in Taiwan with Send International. Char lived the majority of her adult years in Livonia, MI, and then in Huntsville, AL for 12 years before moving to Clinton, SC in 2010. She and her husband lived at Bailey Manor Retirement Center, but at the time of her passing into glory she was a resident of the Hospice House of Laurens County. Char was a founding and faithful member of Ward Presbyterian Church in Livonia, MI, and was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church (Huntsville, AL) and Westminster Presbyterian Church (Clinton, SC). Among the other notable events in Char’s life, she soloed in a Cessna airplane when she was just 16 years old. Char was a good and godly wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. Char was predeceased by her parents, William Moore of Detroit (born in Rockville, MO) and Alfrieda Moore of Detroit (born in Giesenberg-Sodingen, Castrop, Germany); her husband Bill and her brother Donald Moore, both of Detroit, MI. Survivors are her daughter Jeanne Lawton (Jim) of Farmington, Michigan; and her sons, Fred Roberts (Robin) of Metamora, Michigan; Don Roberts (Lisa) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jim Roberts (Robin) of Clinton, South Carolina; John Roberts (Jean) of San Diego, California; Charles Roberts (Michelle) of Huntsville, Alabama; Michael Roberts (Dawn) of San Diego, California; twenty-three grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, three nieces; and a host of others that called her grandma. A funeral service will be held Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10 am. At Valhalla Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL. Visitation will be held before the service from 9:00 AM til 10:00 AM and after the service. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be sent to Bailey Manor (300 Jacobs Highway, Clinton, SC 29325) or Hospice of Laurens County (PO Box 178, Clinton, SC 29325).
