Eugene "Gene" Perry Walrath

Mr. Eugene “Gene” Perry Walrath passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Gene was the youngest of three sons born in Detroit Michigan on July 11, 1932 to John W. and Caroline (Marsh) Walrath.

Gene graduated from Military Academy and then proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Gene married Adaline Grace Wade in 1952, together they were blessed with 44 years of marriage and 5 children. Her passing in 1996 left a void in all our hearts that could not be filled. Gene was an engineer for Chrysler, retiring in 1990. He served as a deacon at Winchester Road Baptist Church, and he was a member of The American Legion. Gene was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves and loved Alabama football. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his loving wife Adaline Walrath and parents, John & Caroline Walrath he is preceded in death by his brothers; John and Bill Walrath, his two sons; David and Dennis Walrath and his grandson; Donald Mahler.

Gene is survived by his daughters; Kathy Crabtree, Tracy Conn (Chris) and Terri Ingrum (Jim),

Grandchildren; Melissa Bates (Bill), Amanda Porter, Jason Carter (Coleena) and Dustin Walrath, 11 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Visitation for Gene will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. Following the visitation there will be a Celebration Of Life Service with Military Honors at 2:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral home Chapel. Gene will be laid to rest in Valhalla Memory Gardens, Huntsville, AL.
