

Evelyn Cora Caudle (née Williams), age 99, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, just days after joyfully celebrating her 99th birthday. Born on July 17,1926, in Birmingham, Alabama, Evelyn spent the majority of her life in Huntsville before making her home in Decatur for the last two decades. She was a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church in Trinity, Alabama, during her time in the Decatur community.
In 1944, Evelyn married the love of her life, John Milton Caudle. The couple shared 56 beautiful years together before John’s passing in 2000. A steadfast partner, Evelyn supported her husband throughout his distinguished career as an engineer with NASA’s Mercury and Apollo programs. She also gave generously to her community through her volunteer work with Huntsville Hospital.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Milton; her parents, Daniel and Velma Williams; her sister, Sadie (Floyd) Trimble; and several extended family members and lifelong friends.
She is survived by her three sons: Stephen William Caudle (Judy) of Decatur, AL; Daniel Milton Caudle (Susan) of Ashville, AL; and John David Caudle (Janice) of Fayetteville, TN. Affectionately known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren, Evelyn leaves behind a cherished legacy in her seven grandchildren: Stephanie (Jason) Skeens, Joanna (Andy) Cline, Patrick (Jeannie) Caudle, Teresa (Mike) Dole, Daniel Caudle, Michael (Jennifer) Caudle, and Julie (Jason) Hall. Her love and influence will also carry on through her great-grandchildren.
Services will be held in her honor on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 at Valhalla Funeral Home- 698 Winchester Road NE, Huntsville, AL 35811 with a visitation from 10-11AM and funeral service at 11AM. She will be laid to rest at Valhalla Memory Gardens, same location, on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025 at 1PM.
Evelyn Caudle will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and service—and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
