Fred Aldridge

.Fred Aldridge was born October 29, 1931 in Jasper, AL to Bessie and Bedford Aldridge. He grew up in Walker County, AL with his two older brothers. Fred moved to Florence, AL in 1947 and graduated from Coffee High in 1949. In 1950 he met his bride-to-be, Doris Louise Gooch, while attending Florence State (now UNA). They married on September 14, 1952.

After graduating college in 1954, Fred was deployed as a 2nd lieutenant with the U.S. army to Korea, where he served until 1956. When he returned, he and his wife started a family of three boys. The family moved to Huntsville, AL in 1975 where Fred and Doris worked in real estate and property development until their retirement. While Fred loved his work, his true passion was his family.

Fred was survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris Gooch Aldridge; his sons Daniel (Casey) and Andrew (Lisa); his grandchildren, Rob (Nicole), Ben, Emily (Bradley), Bedford, and Savannah, and great granddaughter Catherine, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his son Matthew and brothers, Forrest and Frank.

Visitation will be Sunday November 30 from noon to 2pm at Valhalla, followed by his funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Methodist Church Alzheimer Association.
