Hortencia Nunez Taylor was preceded in death by her loving husband, SGT, 1st Class (SFC) Robert L. Taylor, Sr. (USA-Retired). Hortencia is survived by her children; Alice, Elsa, Robert Jr., and Tony; along with six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Hortencia has five brothers and four sisters from her mother and father (Evarista and Francisco).
Hortencia was born and raised in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico during a time of ongoing revolution for the nation of Mexico. Her family traded in livestock and farmed for a living.
Hortencia migrated to the United States after marrying Robert "Bob" Taylor Sr., in El Paso, Texas. Hortencia and Bob continued a life of service in the U.S. Army, as husband and wife, during deployments to Vietnam, Germany, and various military bases in the U.S., to include Ft. Bliss Texas, Ft. Carson Colorado, Ft. Riley Kansas, and finally, Redstone Arsenal.
Hortencia enjoyed spending time with other service member wives at the base NCO club, dancing with her husband, working at the base commissary, and the base Post Exchange (PX). While at home, Hortencia enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas and game shows. Hortencia worked at the base commissary for many years providing bagger and trunk delivery for commissary customers. Her job was a physically demanding 5-day per week, 7:30 to 3:30 pm, rain/shine/ snow/ heat occupation and she loved it.
After her and Bob's retirement, Hortencia traveled and took a long awaited cruise. Her children provided her greatest joy by delivering six grandchildren and four great grandchildren, which she loved into her retirement, aging medical challenges, and to her resting place with her husband Bob.
